The Great King

In the beginning, God made our world and everything in it and around it. This makes God the Great King of our world.

The great promises

Before Abraham was called Abraham, his name was Abram. God made some great promises to Abram. God promised to give Abram a big family and a place to live. Abram worshipped God, the Great King.

The great rescue

Abraham’s family grows and grows. They move to Egypt and then become the slaves of the Egyptians. But God, the Great King, has a great plan to save his people. God brings them out of Egypt and through the sea. For Israel, this is the great rescue.

Israel meets God, the Great King

The people of Israel were slaves in Egypt. But God, the Great King, rescued them from Egypt. God brought Israel through the sea and then God brings them to Mt Sinai. This is where Israel will meet with God.

The promised land

After the Israelites meet God at Mt Sinai, God brings them to the Promised Land. But even though God rescued them from Egypt and brought them through the Red Sea, the Israelites are scared. They will not go into the Promised Land.

Israel asks for a king

The people of Israel and Judah were unfaithful to God, the Great King. They worshipped other gods. They did not listen to God’s Words. They did not do what God said. God sent his people away from the promised land, first Israel, and then Judah.
