The people of Babel are working hard to get a great name for themselves, but the Great King is in charge of the great names. When Adam and Eve disobey God, the consequences stretch into the future. The humans that come after them are determined not to submit to God. The tower that the people of Babel build is aimed at overthrowing the Great King, but their efforts are flimsy, and their work is futile. God is the one who makes people great, and we should respond to our Great King in faithfulness like Abram.
